Well I think I can safely assume that neither of my wabbits are going to be having any babies. Sassy is STILL pulling fur…crazy bunny! So I guess this weekend we will be breeding rabbits again.
Let’s see what else has been going on *hmmm*
(School) Well I had a blast going to deaf club night last friday. I didn’t learn much but it was fun to be there. I’m planning on going again the next chance I get. I’m still very excited about my sign language class. It’s hard but so much fun!
(Cody) The kiddo’s are doing good. Cody has been griping about the cold. Since we’ve had so much ice this year and school’s were canceled because of it - he thinks if it’s ice outside he shouldn’t have to go *L* What a fun argument at 7am! He has also made a new friend, Nathan. Apparently Nathan has a Nintendo Wii and has Mario Galaxy - so they have something in common. They even call each other n the phone and chat about the game. It’s so amusing :/

This past weekend was so nice as far as the weather goes. We went ahead and built a new roof in the pigeon/quail area, cleaned out the rabbit cages, cleaned out all the chicken nest boxes…just the chores that have been needing to be done. We also lost our baby pigeons on Saturday- not sure exactly sure what happened, they were just fine on Friday. So maybe with the new area - with a new nesting box we will have a set that will make it to adulthood.
THEN all hell broke loose *LOL* The weather was having none of that and sent an ice storm our way. The schools were canceled and we lost power all of Monday and into Tuesday. We were fine - I was proud :) We had our heat (propane and kerosene) and I got the blankets up over all the windows right when the power went out to keep the heat in. I closed off all the bedrooms and doors. That helped to keep the temp for awhile (all things I learned from last year’s ice storm) The power came back on for about an hour Monday afternoon. I was skeptical that it would stay on so I turned the heaters our room and bathroom up to flame (80+ degrees *L*) and closed the doors. It worked out because when the power went back out it stayed out until the following morning. The bedroom (which was where we camped out) never dropped below 72! I felt prepared this go round although I didn’t think we were going to lose power this time. Mainly we were just bored. We were warm, had our lights (I even gave the kids glow sticks to play with *L*) and we had food, and a small tv that runs on battery’s. The kids had the nintendo ds’s and a few toys so that kept them business. I got caught up on my book and some podcasts. It wasn’t to bad overall - I don’t like the power out by any means but I know we can handle it - and we did better this year from the trial and error last year.
Last night I remembered that I have bunnies due Thursday so we had to do some cage swapping. I lost a rabbit yesterday(maybe from the cold? not sure as everyone else was just fine)Â So I loaded everyone up with extra hay, pellets and added in the nestboxes to Sassy and Alberta. So I’ll be running out there a lot checking for babies.
Schools are still canceled today - mainly due to the side roads being extremely slick and the ice on the sidewalks. Hopefully it will melt some today. I have school tonight though - math test..why can’t it be canceled for that?! *LOL*

Time for a quick update.
(Farm) We basically worked around the house and the farm all weekend. We got all the wire to build the next set of rabbit cages. 4 more and we are done! *woohoo* we got some wood to make a better roof over the quail/pigeon enclosure. Jay redid the opening on the water barrel to hold the heater thing and so far it’s holding - which means I can plug that in and keep the barrel from freezing which will eliminate the need for me to carry 2-Liters back and forth everyday :) and that makes me happy! The pigeon babies are doing good. Looks like they will be white spotted and brown. I took some pictures today (finally) and they will be uploaded tomorrow. I lost another bun last night - Alberta’s solid black baby. Now she has lost both her babies. Why? I haven’t a clue! They didn’t seem to be attacked - bitten or otherwise. They looked as though they just laid down and died. Just weird. So after this I’m contemplating having JUST the Angora’s. They are bigger, seem to be abit healthier, and I like them *L* but like I said I’m not for sure yet. I’m going to wait and see what happens around the 14th (her and sassy are due then) and if she has a litter - that will determine her outcome.
(Kids) Cody beat Super Mario Galaxy(Wii) this weekend. That boy amazes me! It took him a little over a month. He got the game for xmas. Emily has scavenged my nintendo ds these days. She can play the heck out of cooking mama *LOL*
(Hobby) I did a little sewing this weekend. Mainly fixing things but I’ve got the plans to make the ig’s a snuggle sack (dog bed) this week.
(Life - College) I have decided to stick with math. I’m going to go and listen and TRY to learn but I’m not banking on passing this class. Ahh well. It was going to cost $$ to drop it so I might as well stick with it till the end of the year. ASL is going great. It’s hard but I love it. I have learned alot in just a few short weeks. We were at bass pro the other day and there was a deaf couple there who were discussing which boot to buy. I was happy that I caught the jist of their signs until I realized I was ease dropping :/ I didn’t think of it that way I was just trying to see if I really learned anything. Biology is pretty rough - well it seems to be for me, but I think I should pass it no problem. Health? uhh well that’s a no brainer *L*
(Sweepstakes) Got a wild hair yesterday and played 56 online contests - didn’t win a thing *lmao*
(Movies) We got in several movies this past week/weekend.
Deathproof - can we say lame? I hated the b&w swap and the old film lines..plot was insane. What is the point of getting to know characters to see them die in less than 2 seconds? It’s a typical grindhouse movie plot - Come on now. 5/10
Balls of Fury - ping pong? What is it with my streak of bad movies? Lots of lame unreal action shots with a horrible story line. 3/10
Death Sentence - the latest Kevin Bacon movie. It was decent. I liked the plot and the shots - although very predictable. Overall a decent movie I guess. 7/10
Stardust - Weird and reminded me of the movie Big Fish. It was a good fairy tale/tall tale kind of movie though. Predictable ending though. Robert DeNiro was hilarious as a queen! 8/10
The Invasion - Slow to boot but it gets better. I tried last week to watch this and wasn’t able to - I fell asleep. This time once you get past the first 30 minutes it’s actually a good movie. I liked the idea of it and the ending kinda makes you think “what if?” 8/10
Underdog - The kids wanted to see this one. Man that is one ugly dog *L* The story was fine, it follows the same plot as the cartoon. Decent kids movie. I like Jason Lee for the voice - reminded me the whole time of Earl though *LOL* 7/10

Gosh can it get any freaking colder? OK well it probly can so maybe I shouldnt say that. I’m seriously tired of this weather. When I took Cody to school this morning the wind chill was -6…NEGATIVE SIX?! Holy shitake! I’m a california girl, I can’t handle much more of this single digit crap - you hear me weather man?! Ok enough of the rant…and on to the update.
I lost my first rabbit from the cold. One of alberta’s babies (the Orange/Black male) passed away yesterday overnight. What a bummer. So I’m triple checking them now. Hopefully that is the last one I lose.
Even though Olive is in heat - Anubis wants absolutly nothing to do with her in regards to uhh “getting it on” *bow-chika-bow-bow* So I’m giving up on being a iggy Gramma *LOL*
School is…going. Lots of homework. I had my first tests in ASL, Biology, Math - and we’ll just say I’m not going to be in the top of the class *L* So I’m trying not to stress out like I did last semester. I’m just going for my best and that’s that. If I don’t get an “A” I’ll be fine…(but I really do like getting an A *LOL*)
I added a bunch of pictures today. I updated the Christmas, rabbits, farm and a few others. If you just want to check out my latest additions take a gander at the “recent photo’s/tags” under the Photo’s tab.

The pigeon eggs finally hatched :)
We have 2 yellow baby fugly birds. The momma bird is kinda crazy about moving off of them - I’m sure because it’s 20 degree’s outside. So I will get some pictures of them as soon as it gets warmer. They are so fugly :*LOL*

I am so tired of the cold! *bbbrrr* It would be fine if I didn’t ever have to go outside, unfortunately I do.
Our rabbit watering system has been great until it gets under say 20 degrees. Since the barrel itself will freeze. Making the water spouts empty :/ leaving the rabbits without water. Which leaves me packing 2 liters back and forth throughout the day. Making all the work we put into the system (we even wrapped the pipes in heat tape to PREVENT freeze) basically useless!
So here comes yet ingenious another plan. We decided we need something to keep the barrel from freezing. We looked into several different de-icers ranging from uses on the farm, in ponds and for dog bowls. They were either a)to expensive or b)the wrong size/temp. So here it is…the big idea…we are going to rig up a no freeze dipstick from a diesel truck *L* think it will work? I’ll let you know. We bought the dipstick and drilled the hole but as I said before the barrel is frozen so we can’t install it until it thaws out. I’ll keep ya’ll updated on the project :)

Busy as usual. I started back at school. What in the world was I thinking going full time? My gosh - I’m swamped in homework already. If I start talking about going full time in the future someone remind me of this post! Let’s see…What has been going on here the last 2 weeks?
Peanut (Miss Emily) has a cold - poor thing :/ I hate when the little ones are sick. She can still spread all the toys she owns about the house so I know she’s not super sick ;) She’s been playing guitar hero (funniest thing ever) and has been finding stickers to stick to random things. She has also taken up color on the bathroom door *wtf* *LOL*
Cody has a cough and I’m sure will have whatever the peanut has by weeks end. He has been learning about change (as in money) and is actually doing pretty good. He decided while we were at the pet store (getting crix for skittles the scorpion) that he wants a bird. Not just any bird - he wants a scarlet macaw! *LOL* So he has started a “bird fund” out of an old marshmellow fluff jar and anytime he finds any change he confiscates it and adds to his jar. It’s a great saving lesson :)
Jay has been amazing me with his skills *LOL* He “fixed” our free tv that was a tad out of sync. It involved taking it apart and soldering 2 chips in. He did an awesome job and the picture is perfect! THEN the other day the dishwasher broke. It wouldnt drain the water out. So here I am (credit card in hand) ready to go shopping for another one when he pipes up “I can fix that”…uhhh yeah ok. So after about 45 minutes of banging and clanging in there I here “ok it’s fixed” and sure enough it is. Good as new. SO I am proud of my hubby he’s been a Mr. Fix-it this week.
OK now my turn? Basically I have been doing the farm chores - house chores and homework. That is what my life is consisting of *LOL* Did I mention already that Olive (the new IG we brought home) is in heat? Yeah…it’s been fun this week *LOL*

Today Jay spent some time outside with the rabbits. Now we have a few in the freezer :/ ahh well, I knew before hand not to extremely attached right? Still kinda sad. Anyways the other bun’s are doing just fine. We also bred the rabbits. Should have the litters in Feb so that shouldn’t be to bad (cold wise)
The pigeon eggs are still doing good. Since we don’t know when they were laid, we’re assuming by next weekend we should have some fugly baby birds.
I have figured out we have 1 male and 2 female Muscovey ducks so we may have some eggs and possibly ducklings this spring.

Well we did it again. We added another member to the farm. A 3 year old female IG (Italian Greyhound) named Olive. She was needing a home and we thought Anubis (also an IG) needed a friend. SO…we drove over to Olatha, KS and snatched her up. She is just awesome. She’s very friendly and is fitting in just great! She’s been sleeping in our bed and chasing newbs around the house. They are both devouring greenies like they are going out of style *LOL*
