Alright so it’s not the weekend yet…But..We have had a few blog worthy things happen since the weekend.
- (Farm) The rabbit had a litter - 7 kits! The bad part was that none survived. I’m not entirely sure if she was stressed (we had a dog get in and jumble them and their cages last week) or if she was just not ready to be a momma. Either way I was sad they didn’t make it. Maybe we will try again in a few months. The quails have been moved outside into the chicken pen. We’re down to 69 now - still a good bit more than we expected. Zsa Zsa’s (PB pig) hoof is healing up. Jay has been “home doctoring” her with Tylene (sp) - giving her a shot everyday. She is finally using her little hoof again and is starting to put weight on it. She weighs roughly 7 pounds and is still just a blast to have running around the house. No eggs yet from the chickens but they are getting big and fluffing out.
- (Kids) We had Emily’s birthday party on Monday.
She had a blast opening presents and enjoying her princess for a day again *L* We got her a strawberry cheesecake ice cream cake from Dairy Queen - and OMG was that so good! I think I may need to buy another one for a “it’s a Monday” occasion *L* Emily has been using her potty a lot more which is nice. Cody has just a few days left at school. He’s getting better about having a summer vacation. I have been telling him all the activity’s and projects I have planned for us to do together and he seems to be happier now.
- (Hobby) I bought the latest issue of my favorite sewing magazine “Sew Simple” (a spin off of sew news that prints quarterly) I just love that magazine and can’t wait to try some of the new patterns out. I still haven’t decided what to do with my toast peices yet. I’m still leaning towards a scarf or purse. I just can’t decide.
- (Garden) Watermelons? What watermelons? You can’t even tell I planted anything there now. The tomato plants are doing good. Each plant has at least 2 tomatoes started and 1 has 4. The grape tomato plant has about 15 blooms but no ‘mato’s yet. There are 5 cucumbers that have started between the 4 plants and the chili’s are still growing but nothing started yet.
- (Family) Mom and Dad were home so the kids got to visit with Mamoo & Pawpaw a bit. I am finally done hurting - no pain, no swelling - I feel normal again *woohoo* Jay is doing good - working all the time between the 2 jobs but he’s doing good. I have been contemplating taking a few classes at OTC. Not really sure what I’m doing these days but I’ve finally hit the “enough” point of being just a SAHM. I NEED to get out of the house and do something…either a job, taking a class or something…I need out for abit.
- (Website) I’ve been posting and I’m about to upload a few sets of pictures. I also updated the birds page and will be adding a video of one of the quails hatching.

Ouch. That pretty much sums up this week for me *L* I did my dentist stuff on Wednesday and I still am hurting. Not the tooth (thank goodness) but my gums and the roof of my mouth are so super tender and painful. The endodontist said a week or so and then it should ease off so hopefully mid next week and I’ll be good to go. So let’s see what happened last week?…
- (Me) Ummm I tried to sleep the days away. Still taking my pain meds and trying to sleep whenever I can.
- (Life) We did get rid of the Honda. After taking it to the mechanic to finally get it fixed, his suggestion was to junk it because it would cost more to fix than the car and still may not run good. So that’s what we did - it went to the crusher. Sucks…
- (Farm) The quails are getting bigger and making a serious mess in my kitchen! The official count is 72. We started out with 128 eggs - 77 hatched (5 died) so we have 72 quail in the brooder cage right now. They peep - a lot! *L* Zsa Zsa is getting big - she has doubled her size again. She seems to calm down more and more each week. She still runs laps in the living room but she isn’t near as wild and jumpy as she was before.
- (Kids) Emily turned 2 this week. She is always trying to “help” you with things. She seems to learn something new everyday. Cody has just 2 weeks left of school. I reformatted Cody’s computer and since then he has been playing “Jumpstart Kindergarten & 1st grade” PC games. He amazes me with his ability to read, count, add and just WOW is all I have to say. Emily learns just watching him play so she has picked up on a lot of what he is learning.
- (Hobby) I’m almost done with my toast scarf that I started sometime last year. It’s not that it’s a hard pattern or even a big project. I just work on it a few hours then pack it away for a few months *L* I’ve got to add the crust and the butter - then link them together and I’ll be done. I also finished a few of Cody’s croc buttons. I made him a Super Mario set. I just need to bake them. They turned out good I think.

- (Garden) With all the rain the garden has been doing great. The tomatoes have really been growing. Each plant has 1 or 2 and the tomatoes are measuring about 1-2 in. The cucumbers have some buds. The others are just growing - no buds, no fruit…

Well I got something fun in the mail today so I thought I’d share. I’d actualy forgot all about it. I signed up for this (for Jay) on 9-19-2005 and the day has finally arrived *L* I had “Cereal Killer” printed inside one of the Makers Mark barrels *lmao* I know - to funny eh? Thought you’d enjoy that. Makers Mark even sent a special certificate with the barrel number and the MM seal…Think I should frame it? *L*

I also got my ebates check today *woohoo* you know I like free money! It was 30 bucks this go round and we can sure use it. Miss Em’s birthday is tomorrow so this will get her a little something extra for the big day.

The Quails are hatching!! Well actually they are almost done hatching now. They started at 9:30 last night. We watched them hatch for hours - they are so cute. I love when they finally get a good toe grip on the shell and push the rest of the way out of the egg. We marked the first 8 that hatched (mainly for our entertainment) and here are the hatch times for the first bakers dozen…
- (5/20) 9:36pm - Green
- 11:24pm - Purple
- 11:31pm - White
- 11:47pm - Orange
- 11:58pm - Blue
- (5/21) 12:03am - Yellow
- 12:05am - Pink
- 12:12am (we ran out of colors to mark them *L*)
- 12:16am
- 12:20am
- 12:21am
- 12:35am
- 1:03am

When I got up this morning all I heard was “peep, peep, peep” as I walked down the hall. When I looked in the Inky there were what looked to be 50+ fuzzy little peepers in there all moving around and stepping on each other. There are a few stragler’s that are hatching as I type this but not many. This hatch is going really good. No issues of anyone getting stuck in their egg and once they get it cracked all the way around they are out in about 4 minutes. I’ll list the actual hatch later. I’m counting 61 in the egg still but that includes 4 that on breaking their way out right now and 8 that were questionable when we put them in there. I can’t open it just yet or it will drop the humidity & temperature and make it difficult for the few left to get out of their shells on their own. Cody thinks we should call them all “Quail-ey” - Sounds good to me *L*

Let’s see…A quick update on everything…
- (Website) I added some pictures. Mainly to the kids and farm albums.
- (Garden) The watermelon plants are non existent now. I’m not sure what I did but they croaked :/ The tomato plants already have tiny tomatoes started. The cucumbers are plugging along and the chilli’s are doing o.k. other than getting their leaves eaten by some bug(that only likes chili plant leaves *L*)
- (Kids) The trampoline parts finally arrived so that got set up - and they have been jumping fools ever since. I washed most all of the outdoor toys up so they can play on those now.
- Today I let the kids paint the driveway
(with washable paint of course!) I’ve been trying to remind Cody that summer is almost here and that he won’t be in school until August when he starts Kindergarten, but it’s not going very good. He really likes to go to school and gets upset as soon as I mention him not going…So we are still working on that *L* Emily has been going pee on the potty! I’m not sure she is *really* ready for losing the diapers just yet but it’s a start. She has been saying her ABC’s (although out of order and a few made up letters) but the end is so cute… W-X- “it’s O.K” (instead of Y-Z) So cute and funny. She is also singing “itsy bitsy spider” and learning the hand movements - super cute! Her Bday is Tues…Can’t believe she’s going to be 2 already!
- (Farm)I took Zsa Zsa to school. The kids just loved her and I really think she liked it to! She is getting to be a maniac - she will run laps around the livingroom floor whenever you take her out of her pen. She is just so excited to be out and with the kids. It’s adorable! The Chickens are getting big and will start laying some eggs soon. The bunny’s are doing good. The quail should hatch on Monday (keep watching the cam!)
- (Hobby)
I was able to get in a little sewing this week. I took some sweats and chopped them into capris. They turned out ok I guess. I chopped the legs off and modified the waist to make it a drawstring instead of elastic. I should have made them a tad longer but they will be great for working in the garden later this summer.
- (Misc) I started a Shrek glass collection (from McD’s) I’ve got Shrek & Fiona so far. Since there are only 4 to collect I’m 1/2 way done *L* We had a cop visit us earlier in the week and inform us that we cannot park in the grass (city ordinance) so that was interesting. Guess we may be extending our driveway this summer *L* I went to the 3rd endodontist - I like her. She doesn’t seem root canal happy and seems to think my other teeth look just fine. I go next week to have the procedure done *ack*
Well that’s all for now. Next week looks to be a busy week according to the calendar. I’ll try and update again anyway and get the Cali trip pictures up’d to the site also.

I have been working on this for hours now *L* I added a crap load of pictures (mainly the ones that were on the old site) and I finally got the format where I want it. So over the next few days I will be adding all the recent pictures (over the last few months) and get completely caught up *woohoo*
I still have a few more things to tweak and add but so far so good. If something isn’t looking right - say out of line or off the page - tell me. It may be a browser issue that I wasn’t aware of since I only use firefox (netscape & IE = evil *LOL*) Also let me know what you think.
Tomorrow I’ll update about Mothers day (it was great this year BTW) and I’ll let ya’ll know how the weekend went.

Aww It was a great day for me! This was really the first year that Cody was excited about mothers day. He woke me up at 7am to tell me “Happy Momma’s Day!!” and gave me a big hug. Then he wanted me up and out of the bed so I could open his present that he made at school. It was just so cute!He was just really excited and that made me so happy. Emily told me happy momma day and gave me some kisses and she was excited to (mainly because Cody was) Jay and the kids made me a card that had the kids hand prints on it. I even got to take a nap! Woohoo for me! We had a great day. Jay fixed me a good dinner and Mom & Dad and Holly came over to visit. What a really good mothers day.

Well maybe not SECRET but mine - well maybe not mine but it’s for sure it’s a garden. Jay and I worked all morning on the garden getting the soil ready and spreading manure (fun stuff!) and more dirt. Cody and I planted 4 tomato plants so far. I think we will add some cherry tomatoes (because they are fun) and a few watermelon, cucumber, and strawberry plants and we’ll see how that works. I don’t want to have to be in the garden for hours everyday so a few of each is good enough for me. I usually do really good with my tomatoes each year and the few years I’ve done strawberries have turned out decent. I tried to do corn last year, and it did spout and start growing except the chickens REALLY liked to eat it and it ended up being chicken food :/ Hopefully this year the kids will enjoy helping me water and pull weeds and eventually eat the stuff we grow.
**Update**

Well we planted a few more. (2)Watermelons, (4)Cucumbers, (2)Chilis, (1)Grape Tomato, (1)Strawberry plant…add in the (4)tomato plants we planted yesterday for a total of 14 plants. I even have room for a few more but I think that should be enough to keep us busy this summer.

Here’s a picture of my insane tomato plants (I only planted 3 of them) that went crazy in 2005…They kinda took over for awhile but I sure did get a lot of tomatoes that year *L*

OK So today I went to the dentist. Not my favorite place but it needed to be done. Mostly decent news - need a cleaning and crown on an old root canal tooth - things I already knew. THEN he says “uh we still have a funky thing going on with number 7″ Great. Let me explain that a bit. Last year I went to him for a check-up. Same prognosis as this time except 1 add. He said number 7 needed a root canal because of an abscess the size of a pea. WHAT? An abscess? I have never had any pain, swelling - nothing. Never would have thought ANYTHING was wrong with that tooth. So ok, I adjust my thoughts around having this done and tell him “ok, if it needs to be done - do it” and he tells me “can’t, you need to see an endodontist to perform the apiectomy and refers me out. Following week I see her (Endodontist #1). She confirms what he said and proceeds to tell me that I also need 6 more (WTF?) and 1 I should have done just because its in between 2 root canal teeth. Uh no thanks. I’m not made of money #1 - and dental stuff is crazy expensive and #2 I’m not getting a root canal on a tooth that doesn’t need one. She’s insane so I left very upset and frustrated. What to believe? In my mind she was root canal happy and I don’t trust her to work on me. So I call my regular dentist back - explain what the lunatic told me and he refers me elsewhere. 4 days later I see the next “specialist” and this one I like. He (Endodontist #2) tells me everything is fine - no need to have ANY root canals done and to come back if I’m ever in any pain. ***Fast forward to today*** So something funky with #7 turns out to be a cyst the size of a grape. It’s almost touching my sinus cavity (which is apparently a REALLY bad thing) and needs to be removed ASAP. So here comes the dilemma. There are 3 endodontist’s in town. The one I don’t trust - she’s out! The other I like but he didn’t catch the problem that he specializes in so that’s out to…and the 3rd is a risk either way. Might like her or she could be insane like the 1st one…So I’ve made an appt with the 3rd - and we shall see what she’s like. Either way it sucks and I am so not looking forward to any of this :/
This is what they want to do *ack*
